Family Counseling
My Belief is that all individuals and families have a right to feel a sense of love, belongingness and connectedness with the people in their world. My training is specifically focused on couples and family counseling, and I believe that family relationships are an important part of psychological wellness and health. Whether you are planning your wedding or you are an empty nester – life has challenges at every stage. Family roles change as your family grows and it’s not always easy to know what to do next or how to respond to these changes.

The way you were raised will influence your family values and how you parent your own children. I help families to reconnect and communicate in healthy ways. Disruptions in the family don’t have to send the family in a downward spiral. The right tools and knowledge can keep a family healthy even through the hard times.

Couples Counseling
Navigating through life can be a challenge; what happens when you add another person into the equation? Communication styles are different and people bring different “baggage” into the relationship. How does a couple blend their lives together and make it work?

We are all influenced by our past and our past influences our relationships. This in turn influences the kind of friend, daughter, son, mother, father, sibling and lover we are to others. We go into a relationship and hope that people will understand us and accept us as we are. The truth is, relationships are hard work and require healthy compromise.

I help couples rework their communication skills with each other and learn new ways of connecting. Couples, married or not, can drift apart and not even know what happened. I can help couples bring the focus back to them and rebuild the relationship. I focus on the couple’s strengths and help the couple set up goals to change unhealthy patterns into healthy ones.

Individual Counseling
Successfully dealing with life’s transitions can be a challenge and can leave one with a feeling of isolation. Whether you are going to a new school, becoming a stay-at-home mom, going through a divorce or beginning retirement, it is helpful to have someone to work with through these changes.

Changes can cause anxiety and depression and I help guide individuals to find strategies and solutions to fit their lives. I respect each person’s uniqueness and focus on his or her strengths and help create achievable goals.
