Therapeutic Sign Language Class - Beginner (ages 12 and up)
$110 for a 6-week session – 1.5 hours per week
Over my years of teaching sign language I've discovered that most of my students have a very specific reason for learning sign language. They range from having a family member or friend who is dealing with a hearing loss to wanting to learn sign language to communicate with people in their community. I created
Therapeutic Sign Classes (tm) in order to help individuals weave their experiences and feelings into the learning process. Learning a new language and incorporating these new skills into everyday life can be a challenge and we will talk about these challenges as a group.
The beginner sign language class focuses on basic sign, and as vocabulary builds participants will be able to use phrases and sentences. This class focuses on practical sign language incorporated in a fun atmosphere. Individuals will practice expressive skills (using the signs) and receptive skills (understanding what someone is signing to you). At the end of the 6-weeks, participants will be able to sign sentences and have basic conversations.
